This German made vintage Knopf full double French Horn features a custom leadpipe modified by Illinois French horn maestro, Stuart de Haro. This Knopf horn is one of several faithful top tier horns made to compete (and copy!) with the famous C.F. Schmidt horns of the early 20th century.
The wrap on this instrument is similar to a Geyer wrap but with a piston valve, mimicking the Schmidt design of the earler 20th century. This horn has seen many years and has a professionally well made patch on the outter bell ring but still plays quite well.
Regarding the de Haro leadpipe, from the de Haro website:
"This pipe offers good definition to the harmonics and moderate resistance. It is a well-rounded pipe, fitting in well in chamber, orchestral, or band settings. It has an excellent blend between the Bb and F sides and works well on Holtons, Conn 8D's, 10 & 11D's, and 6D's"
This instrument has been ultrasonically cleaned and serviced by our professional brass repair technician. It's in solid mechanical condition and is a great player.
