"The Bach 180 series trumpets are the number one selling professional trumpets in the world. The 180S37 features a #37 one-piece hand-hammered professional bell that produces a warm sound with great projection, allowing this instrument to work well in multiple musical settings—from jazz to concert or solo playing. The #25 leadpipe allows for slight resistance that is effective in centering tone production. The silver-plate finish provides a controlled brilliance to the overall sound. These features combined with a .459" medium-large bore allow the player to produce a well-rounded sound well suited for all types of music."
This Bach Strad 37 is a great player! While its got some obvious cosmetic blemishes, those doesn't keep it from sounding just as good as you'd expect any Stradivarius to sound. Some plating wear has happened to this trumpet over the years. Most notably, the wear can be spotted on the pinky hook, the ends of all tuning slide tubes where they meet with the crook, around the middle ring on the valve casings, and a streak of wear down the left side of the bell (likely from a scratch in its previous life) along with a spot on the underside of the bell where a player's left hand might rest underneath. Some pitting can be spotted in this instrument's leadpipe, and a leadpipe replacement may be required at some point in the instrument's future but does not affect this instrument's playability currently. Some mild scratches can be found on the bell, and evidence of a previous solder job (not performed here) can be found on the 3rd valve slide stop rod post.
Even though there is a long list of cosmetic blemishes, all of this occurred prior to its arrival here in our shop. All our technicians needed to do was take the horn apart to clean it in our ultrasonic tank, put it back together, and give it a play-test. Dent scars in the bell and solder marks on the 3rd valve slide were from work done at a different shop in its previous life. What that tells us is that its previous owner loved playing this horn, played it a lot, and spent good money to keep it up and running. It's in good playing condition, and it's here waiting for you! Don't delay! Come to Horn Stash today to try out this great Bach Strad 37.
