From Bach:
"The Bach 42B trombone features an 8-1/2" one-piece hand-hammered yellow brass bell that has defined the symphonic sound for generations. The .547" large bore combined with the traditional wrap F attachment offers outstanding clarity and projection with just the right amount of resistance. The chrome plated nickel silver inner handslide tubes provide the ideal surface for smooth and quick handslide action. The clear lacquer finish adds a subtle warmth to the sound overall. The Bach Stradivarius 42B professional trombone is ideal for both symphonic and solo performance."
What's the biggest difference between a new and a used Bach 42B? In this case it's about $1200, which is no small amount. It is rare for a used Bach trombone to have 90%-95% of its lacquer still intact at 30+ years old, but that is certainly the case for this particular Bach 42B. The trombone's case is also in excellent condition, showing VERY minimal wear on one of the bottom seams, but that is truly the only wear that can be found on the felt exterior. There is some minor acid bleed on the bell rim, but it does not affect the way the bell resonates. This horn is very responsive, and in very good condition.
Our professional brass technician ultrasonically cleaned the instrument after a full disassembly and soak, and they also disassembled and reassembled the outer hand slide to fix an alignment issue. Everything on the horn moves freely and easily, and it's ready to go. Stop by Horn Stash with your favorite mouthpiece today and try it out!
