It isn't very often that we get used Benge instruments here in our shop. Even less often is seeing a 45-year-old instrument in such beautiful condition! This trumpet was beautifully maintained by its previous owner, and we are proud to display it in our show room. Players will find the bell on this horn to be a little smaller and tighter than that of a standard Bach 37, which will allow for more focused projection and a sound with a little more bite. Ideally, this horn would be used as a lead horn. It can certainly blend in an ensemble with the proper air support and mouthpiece configuration, but Elden Benge designed the 3X bell with soloists in mind. This Benge would fit in both a classical and a jazz setting.
Because of the meticulous care that the previous owner took with this instrument, all our professional brass technician had to do when this instrument arrived was give it an ultrasonic cleaning. No dentwork or soldering was required. We were really hard pressed to even find a single scratch on this horn. We did find a VERY minor scratch on the bell flare, the #2 piston stem has some plating wear, and the stop rod looks like it may have been removed at some point, but no other blemishes were found after our thorough inspection.
This horn would be an excellent candidate for a player looking for a solid lead horn, or would be a beautiful addition to any Benge collector's stockpile. In its current condition, with a case in equally great condition and 2 mouthpieces included, this horn will very likely get snatched up sooner than later. Add a visit to Horn Stash to your calendar, and make it soon! This excellent Benge 3X outfit is waiting for you!
