Buffet-Crampon has set the world standard for professional-level clarinet manufacturing, and that goes for all varieties of clarinets that they made. This Pre-R13 was considered Buffet’s top of the line clarinet, until 1955 with the introduction of the R13. This doesn’t make Pre-R13 clarinets any less impressive. Made sometime between the late 1940s to the early 1950s in Paris, by hand.
Pre-R13’s had a lighter stain compared to the jet black of new Buffets. Over time the stain has slightly faded, however grain of the grenadilla is much more visible and is beautiful.
It's in great shape! Our professional woodwind technician made a couple adjustments to get the instrument sealing properly. The keys are showing some use but are in great shape for their age. It comes in a plastic Buffet case.
So come on down and try this clarinet out! It is sure to find it’s next home sooner than later!
