This Conn 12M bari sax has an incredible sound at an incredible price. Based on our research, we believe that this horn was made in Elkhart, IN in 1960. Around that time, Conn had begun moving some (mainly student-level) models to their factory in Nogales, AZ, but the 12M remained in Elkhart for several years after that. This is a great horn that came out of an excellent factory and it's got a lot of life left in it.
This Conn 12M bari arrived here in significantly used condition, however our techs were ready for a project like this! Numerous pad replacements and adjustments were required, as well as a neck cork replacement. Dents were removed from the bell and neck, and the horn was given a full disassembly and bath in our ultrasonic tank. After all that, this horn is back to playing the way it deserves too! Evidence of dentwork can be found on the neck and on the bell, and the lacquer is heavily worn throughout the instrument. Previous signs of repair (not done by our repair technicians) include: guards showing soldering work, neck hook has been resoldered, dentwork in bow.
It is said by many that the 12M is THE bari sax to play. Nothing else sounds quite the same and is known for the gigantic sound, made famous by the great Gerry Mulligan. It has a great response and tone. It is a great player!
Now is the time to get a great vintage baritone saxophone! Call, text, or stop by for more info!! This horn is ready to go!
