Looking for an Eb/D trumpet that doesn't cost you thousands of dollars? Look no further! This little cutie will get the job done, and won't even come close to breaking the bank! Made in the late 1960's in Elkhorn, WI, this trumpet was a part of a line-up that would last a very long time at the Getzen company. This horn would have been made shortly after Getzen suffered a large fire at their original factory. By the time this trumpet was made, production was back to full capacity after a significant dip as they rebuilt. It's got a lot of history, and a great warm sound for being a high trumpet.
Our professional brass technician gave this horn an ultrasonic bath and found no other work to be needed. There is some lacquer wear/acid bleed apparent on the 2nd valve casing near the serial number engraving, and also a little bit of wear on the 3rd valve where the player's finger would hook around. A tiny bit of lacquer wear can be found on the receiver as well, but outside of those very few insignificant blemishes, this horn looks to be undamaged and in nearly perfect condition. Its previous owner must have really loved this horn because it was taken care of very well. No evidence of previous dent work or soldering work can be found. It's possible that the thumb saddle needed to be reattached at some point, but the soldering work was very good and could be the original solder used from assembly.
