Getzen flugelhorns have proven popular and reliable over the years, which is why we sell so many of them here! Very little has changed about the Eterna flugel over the last 50 years, which speaks to the quality and consistency of Getzen's instruments. This one, dating back to the late 60's/early 70's, is every bit as warm and open as you'd expect from any Getzen Eterna from any generation. Earlier Eterna flugels did not include any intonation aids like slide triggers, but the larger bore (preferred by MANY flugel doublers) is usually easy for any trumpet player to get used to.
This flugelhorn got the full ultrasonic treatment before being listed here for sale. A cleaning, re-lube, and hand-polish was all this instrument needed to get into tip-top playing condition. There's some obvious plating wear on the bell section where its previous owner's hand would rest, and some additional plating wear starting to form around the tuning slides. It is likely that this wear will advance as it gets used and cleaned over time. There are some mild surface scratches on the bell from use over the years, but no scratches have penetrated the plating. The included Protec case in is good functional shape, and has room for a trumpet, in addition to it's compartment for the flugelhorn.
