What makes a Haynes flute or piccolo so special? The answer to that can't really be put into words -- it's just obvious once you play a few notes with it. Haynes's Piedmont Street location in Boston is where the company lived for the longest, and the flutes and piccolos made within the first decade on Piedmont Street are highly sought-after. This is one such piccolo. Any cosmetic blemishes are vastly outshined (get it?) by the excellent playing condition of the instrument. The piccolo is as bright as one might expect from a solid silver instrument, but there's warmth, character, and response to this piccolo that you just can't match with most modern manufacturers.
When this Haynes Handmade piccolo was brought to us to sell, it was in generally good condition. It needed a couple adjustments and two pads replaced to get it into tip-top playing condition. Our professional woodwind technician was able to handle the adjustments with ease, and the flute is ready to go! Some typical wear can be found on the headjoint around the border or the lip plate, and there are two pin-hole sized spots on the back of the body that can be seen, but cannot be felt and do not impact the instrument's playability.
