The Holton H180 is Holton's flagship yellow brass French horn, and we are so excited to have a used one here at such a great price, especially in the condition it's in! It features all the same specs as the Holton H179, but with an almost entirely yellow brass construction. It offers a full, rich sound with more warmth than its nickel silver counterpart, the H179. This would be a perfect horn for a professional looking for a warmer tone quality, and also would be a great horn for an advanced student to move to, given how versatile it is. It would fit right in as a solo instrument, part of a chamber group, a large ensemble (both band and orchestra), a studio setting, and countless others.
The seller asked us to ultrasonically clean the horn, and work out a few minor dents in the bell throat and flare. Our professional brass technician was able to take care of the work with ease, and the horn is clean, lubed, and ready to take home. Overall, the horn is in great shape, and so is its case and the included case cover. The only major cosmetic blemish is surrounding the pinky hook - it looks like some previous dentwork and soldering (not performed by us) was done to that area and caused some lacquer to flake off. Similar wear can be found on the paddles. Some very, very minor lacquer wear may be found on the interior of the bell, and on some of the upper tuning slides, but you really need to look to find it, and there's also evidence of previous solder work on the upper 3rd slide brace. Stop by ASAP to play on it before someone beats you to this great deal!
