Claude Gordon was a famous trumpet player, educator, author, and band director. He formed and led for Claude Gordon Big Band for years, and was also a player on the I Love Lucy and Amos & Andy TV show theme songs. During his career, he worked with Benge and Selmer to make some signature model trumpets and mouthpieces, and we are incredibly excited to have one of his stellar Selmer signature models here in stock!
It's got a unique configuration being a large bore, but also lightweight horn. It makes the horn very responsive, and it gives the player a lot of room to push the horn as far as they want to go. It also makes the horn very fragile, but anyone serious enough about their playing to consider this horn is also serious about taking care of their instrument.
Our professional brass technician gave the instrument an ultrasonic cleaning, smoothed out some minor dents in the tuning slides, put a patch on the 3rd valve slide crook, and also added a pair of stop rod nuts to the 3rd slide (stop nuts added after photos were taken.) The horn is showing some lacquer wear, but about 70% of the original lacquer is still intact. Some very minor dents are still visible in the first valve slide knuckle, but do not affect the way the valves move. It comes with the original case, which is in excellent condition. Grab your favorite mouthpiece and come try out this great Selmer Claude Gordon Model Bb Trumpet!
