Yamaha is known for manufacturing a LOT of things, but their brass instruments seem to be some of their most popular items in production, and it seems to have been that way for a very long time. The Yamaha YFH-631 flugelhorn has been manufactured since the early 70's, and very little has been changed over the years. This particular instrument is one of their earlier models, and considering its age, it's in good shape!

This horn was used by a serious player in its previous life, and it shows! This horn was loved and played a lot, and it looks to have been regularly maintained since its purchase. There some evidence of previous solder work on the brace connecting the 3rd valve slide and the front branch, and it also looks like the ferrule attaching the front branch to the bell stem got some soldering work as well. We don't see any evidence of any dent scars, but there is some lacquer wear throughout the instrument, likely just from handling the horn and playing it. We estimate about 70% of the instrument's original lacquer is still intact, with the bell, front branch, and tuning slide crooks showing the most wear.

Upon arrival, our professional brass tech thoroughly inspected this instrument, and estimated that only a cleaning would be required to prep this instrument for sale. Once it was out of the ultrasonic bath and re-lubed, it got a play-test, and then was brought up front to list for sale! It's got a beautiful, warm tone, and feels much more open than one would think the bore size would allow.

Yamahas always sell fast here, and we rarely get their flugelhorns, so don't delay! This horn is expected to sell very quickly. This would be a perfect first flugel for a young player, or a great addition to any serious player's collection.
