Yet another excellent Getzen Eterna flugelhorn looking for a home! The Eterna series has been proven to be consistently reliable and affordable, and this reputation has been maintained for many decades. This flugel dates from the mid-80's, but certainly does not look that old. While the silver plating is showing signs of previous cleaning and polishing, there's only two spots on this horn there the plating has been compromised and chipped off, and that's on the 3rd valve slide crook and the 2nd valve casing near the middle ring, which is almost entirely hidden by the bell.
This flugel arrived here in almost ready-to-go condition but our professional brass technician still needed to spend some times scrubbing the valves and valve casings. It also got a hand-polish to brighten up the plating. Some evidence of previous soldering work (not performed here) can be found on the brace connecting the bell to the leadpipe. An important note about this instrument's mouthpiece receiver: this flugel uses a mouthpiece with a slightly wider shank than current modern flugelhorn mouthpieces typically come with. We play-tested it with a Blessing 3FL mouthpiece that had a .373"-wide end on the shank, but our newer Schilke flugel mouthpieces would not fit. We recommend keeping this in mind if you're considering this flugelhorn, and we're happy to help you track down a compatible mouthpiece if you need it.
This horn is in great shape and the original heavy wooden double case that's included makes this a great deal. Stop by Horn Stash today to check out this GREAT Getzen Eterna flugelhorn.
