The Jupiter JHR-854L French horn is an excellent double horn for a player to graduate to once they've finished up with their single horn. This model in particular features a detachable bell for ease of transport and storage, which is very appealing to most horn players after experiencing travel with the traditional awkward-shaped French horn case. The 0.472" bore will be comfortable for players who may still getting comfortable with tone control on the instrument, and the medium-throat bell will keep their sound focused and balanced. And considering what the average detachable bell French horn usually costs, this outfit is a steal.
This horn is in good cosmetic condition, only showing some mild signs of use. The bell flare has some surface scratches, which are fairly common for used detachable bell French horns. The body is also showing signs of use and repair. The tube connecting the 1rd rotor to the secondary tuning slide has been removed and reattached, and there is evidence of soldering near the ferrules and the braces holding this tube in place. There is also some lacquer wear forming along the tuning slide crooks, which is very common for used French horns.
All in all, this outfit is a great value. We very rarely see used detachable bell French horns (cutting a bell usually costs a minimum of $500), and it's even more rare that they come in an incredibly convenient briefcase-style case like this one does. Whether this horn is in regular or infrequent use, its next owner will have no problem finding space to store this case when the time comes.
