From King:

"The King 2B trombone is built with a classic jazz trombone style in mind. It features a yellow brass bell which creates a quick response. A vintage balancer and deluxe style bell engraving are included on this trombone. A sleek hard shell case protects this trombone when not in use. These king small bore straight trombones have set the standard in jazz performance for generations."

This King 2B Liberty trombone is a serious player! The 2B has been one of King's most popular instruments, and maintains that status to this day. Originally designed in 1893, the 2B has earned its place over time as one of the best possible jazz trombones a brass musician could play on. Featuring a dual bore measuring 0.481"/0.491" and a 7 3/8" bell, this horn is best used in a solo/combo setting.

This specific 2B dates from back to the early/mid 70's, and is showing some signs of use. The lacquer on the bell section is pretty spotty, and it shows some signs of previous dentwork. The same goes for the outer slide - plenty of lacquer wear is showing, but this doesn't impact the instrument's playability in any way. The lacquer that does remain has turned a beautiful golden brown color, giving this horn a lot of character just from its cosmetic condition. The inner slide has two very, very minor spots of plating wear, one on the very end of the stocking on the lower inner slide, and another near the top of the stocking on the upper inner slide. These are not easily visible, and can only be seen when looking very closely. The wear does not cause any drag on the handslide.

A fair amount of work was required to prep this instrument for sale. Our professional trombone technician disassembled and cleaned the entire horn, which is standard for instrument we prep for sale. Beyond that, they did perform some dentwork in the bell and tuning slide, and the bell side main tuning slide ferrule needed to be resoldered, and the work burned off most of the lacquer above and below the ferrule. Once the work was completed, it got a long play-test, and was listed for sale.

This is a great horn from a great generation! Come check it out today!
