From Martin's 1962 catalog:
"Leading professional artists find the means to full expression designed for perfect intonation control at all times. Finger ring on third valve tuning slide provides further correction as you play in the lower register. Lacquered brass with nickel-silver trim."
Over the years, Martin Committee trumpets have become harder and harder to come by, especially in stores. This is largely because of the players that used these instruments back in their heyday, and the impressive sound that players could achieve through them. Miles Davis, Claude Gordon, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis all used Martin Committees at one point or another, and their recommendation has held its weight over the years.
The Martin Committee Deluxe differs from the standard Committee in only a few ways:
These differences are largely cosmetic, but the lighter bell will help players achieve a brighter sound compared to the darker sound of the standard Committee.
This Martin Committee Deluxe trumpet is showing some signs of wear, but is in excellent playing condition. Our professional brass technician cleaned the horn in our ultra-sonic tank, re-lubed all slides and valves, worked out a small dent in the back of the bell, and gave the horn a long play-test. Lacquer wear can be found throughout this instrument, but is most evident around the valve casings and slides. There's also a fair amount of lacquer wear on the left side of the bell, likely a reaction that happened after sitting in its case for a long time. No signs of red rot can be found in this horn's leadpipe, despite the spotty lacquer. This Martin Committee Deluxe trumpet also comes with a hard case that is not original to the instrument. It is a very tight fit and we recommend replacing this case as soon as possible.
