There are some instrument brands and models that have a standard for all others, and the Miraphone 186 BBb tuba is absolutely one of them. These tubas are known for their focused intonation, ease of play, and the bright wonderful response. And with a classic recording bell, everyone will be able to hear this tuba in a much more direct way, making it appropriate for some larger concert bands, and also combos and brass bands.

This 186 is a great player. It feels easy to get air through it, and has a big sound. The rotors have a light touch, and move freely and easily. This is a used horn; scratches from regular use can be found throughout the inner and outer wrap of the tuba, as well as minor dents in a few tuning slides and crooks that were not easily accessible by our technicians.

This tuba needed quite a bit of work to be prepped for sale. Our professional brass technician wound up spending a lot of time with this horn as a result. Dents were removed from the bell, bow, the second branch and tuning slides. Then they moved onto some extensive solder work. The thumb ring needed to be replaced and soldered on, both strap rings were resoldered, the bottom bow guard and keel were removed and resoldered once their dentwork was complete (keel was replaced), the main tuning slide needed to be resoldered to the 4th valve (lower tube), and a brand new leadpipe was also installed. Over the course of all this work, the tuba also got a disassembly and cleaning in our ultrasonic tank.
