A classic cornet from F.E Olds and Sons, we are happy to have an Olds Special Cornet in our shop! Referred to as a "a real cornet player's cornet", this horn has a lot of appeal for someone looking for something vintage. With a Medium-large bore, this cornet is a player. It sports beautiful nickel silver valve casings and slides to create a unique two-tone effect that looks sleek against the lacquer.

This horn has seen some wear over the years, which is to be expected from something so vintage. The horn has a slightly cloudy appearance and the valve casings have seen some lacquer wear. Our technician did some really creative work on this horn as well. He did a custom fashioning of a 3rd slide stopper that is new to this horn. You can see the material of the stopper is much brighter compared to the rest of the instrument. He also performed dent work throughout the instrument. Lastly, he did a thorough cleaning of this horn utilizing our ultrasonic bath. This required the horn to be disassembled and each piece to be scrubbed. Then, there was the replacement of all necessary springs, felts & waterkey corks. Next, there was valve alignment and slide greasing. Finally, the instrument was reassembled and play tested!

If you're on the look out for a vintage cornet with a great story and beautiful rehab, come check this Olds Special Cornet out soon! We hope to see you play testing it in our recital hall in the near future.
