What F.E. Olds said in 1948:
"The Studio 'Brilliant Bell' crease, in this instrument, a trumpet of unusual characteristics with rich tonal resonance.
Nickel silver and brass in the bell of the Studio Trumpet allow the maximum amount of free vibration for full tone quality. The nickel silver tuning crook, the hand-grips on the valves, and the third valve slide give maximum wear resistance. The light, effortless action is fast and dependable and careful balance assures a true scale."
It's not often we get have a trumpet on our shelves with a bell made of 2 completely different alloys, but we DO sell Olds trumpets very often, so we have a feeling this trumpet will sell quickly, especially at its current asking price. While some cosmetic wear is showing in the lacquer finish (noticeable on the leadpipe, bell crook, less noticeable spots on the bell throat and 1st and 2nd valve slides), this horn is a serious player. The pistons are in excellent condition, and an audible "pop" sounds when the tuning slides are pulled without releasing compression. Cosmetic wear aside, this horn has a lot of life left in it, and would be happiest in a commercial setting as this horn can get BRIGHT with the nickel silver flare.
Little prep work was required before putting this trumpet up for sale. Our professional brass technician cleaned off the pistons and slides, and added some fresh lubricant before play-testing. It was found to be in great working condition, and it includes its original case and mouthpiece. Stop by today to check out this excellent vintage Olds Studio Trumpet!
