For those unfamiliar with Bach's #25 bell taper, get ready for a trumpet with a BIG sound. Bach's 18025 Stradivarius traditionally comes with a large (0.462") bore, and that is certainly the case for this instrument. What makes this particular Bach 25 especially unique is the generation it comes from, the stamp on its bell, and the finish on the instrument. This comes from a period of time when Bach was moving from their factory in Mt. Vernon, NY, to their current factory in Elkhart, IN. Horns from this time period typically come with a "Corporation" stamp under the Vincent Bach signature engraving on the bell, and is included on this trumpet as well. The other stand-out feature on this Bach 25 is its gold-plate finish. This finish is something we hardly ever see on any trumpets, and especially on a rare vintage Bach trumpet like this. 

This trumpet's gold plate is showing some wear typical of a horn that's been in use for 50+ years. The most significant spots showing wear is the 3rd valve slide, the main tuning slide bottom tube., and the 1st valve casing (all spots where a player's hand rests). The rest of the valve casings show wear and some scratches, and some pitting has begun to show in the plating on the 1st valve slide. There is also evidence of some previous repairs that this horn underwent before it arrived here in our shop: both main tuning slide ferrules have likely been removed and reinstalled, as well as the main tuning slide brace. The mouthpiece receiver also show evidence of previous soldering, as does the brace connecting the leadpipe to the bell's bow. The bell itself is in great shape, showing only a few scratches down the throat. 

Our professional brass technician gave this horn an ultrasonic cleaning and a hand-polish, and that was all that was required of us to prep this trumpet for sale when it was brought in. It was photographed without 3rd valve slide stop nuts, but replacement nuts have since been installed on this instrument.
