Developed to improve upon the original R13 design, the S1 was developed to offer an option with a darker sound. While its popularity was not comparable to that of the R13, the S1 is comparable in its professional playing capabilities and high-quality craftmanship. The wood is in great shape, with no cracks in sight. The silver-plated keys are just a bit foggy, but nothing that would affect playing. This clarinet had some minor adjustments done and a few pads replaced. It is now in stellar playing condition, ready for its next home.
