Conn made two versions of their 22B New York Symphony trumpet, and this one is regarded as one of their "late models". There were only subtle difference between the early and late models (intonation aids like slide rings, finger hooks, bell weight, etc), and the late models seem to be a little more suitable for modern players. Its medium-small bore will give it a nice, focused sound. The bell will afford players a bright response, but the smaller bore will help players avoid losing air support when playing in their quieter dynamic range.
This trumpet arrived in good playing condition, and only needed its oil and grease to be refreshed before going up for sale. As players may expect from a 70-year-old instrument, this trumpet is showing its age in the form of lacquer wear surrounding the valve section where a player would hold the horn, and a few spots on the leadpipe and 2nd valve slide. There's also a fairly deep scratch it in lacquer on the side of the 3rd valve slide, and a patch installed on the inside bend of the main tuning slide crook, and the patch installation (not by us) looks to have burnt off some of the lacquer.
It's in good working condition, and ready to go! Stop by Horn Stash today to check it out!
