Couesnon was founded in 1827 in France. Known for their exceptional quality they won numerous awards and earned a contract with the French military in 1915 which helped grow the company to over 1,000 workers across 11 factories. These were very sought after in the United States due to their outstanding quality and are difficult to come by now. There was a fire in 1979 at the main factory that destroyed many of their records and after being purchased by PGM in 1999 the business officially closed in 2023.
Our professional brass technician lubricated, reassembled, and hand-polished this instrument. It was play-tested for quality assurance, and was found to be in great playing condition. This instrument plays very well with a nice round tone and slots easily along every register. Overall the horn is in great cosmetic condition. There is some lacquer wear along the bell and a few minor dents at the bass of the instrument.
