From Martin's 1948 catalog:

"Here's the tenor can can be heard... without the use of a microphone. Like the alto, the Martin tenor has a tone that carries – a full-bodied tone of such power, it stands out even against a large brass section! It throttles down to a whisper, too, because there's just the right amount of resistance for "holding back" as well as for playing at top volume. The secret of this controllable power is in the acoustical design of the instrument itself, in the even temper of its special alloy brass, and in the uniform thickness of metal throughout the instrument. Other important reasons why so many top starts prefer the Martin tenor are apparent the moment you try it... perfectly balanced action, natural key arrangement, and extreme flexibility."

This sax is a rare find, featuring almost all of its original lacquer intact and in great condition, with a few small spots from age around the bell area. Due to its age and original pads, our professional woodwind tech did a full repad and cleaning on the horn to bring it back into great playing shape. This vintage beauty is ready to find its new home and get back to playing again.
