Our neighbors at Schilke make some of the best brass instruments around, and their X Series is no exception. Traditionally offering a "bigger, broader" sound than the B Series counterparts, X Series trumpets are incredibly versatile, but seem to be most appropriate when they are the featured instrument in an ensemble or combo. Projecting with the X3 should come very easily to any player who wants to be heard, due to the broad response of the #1 taper, and also the open feel of the reverse leadpipe. 

Like most horns that are over 20 years old, some signs of use and wear can be found on this Schilke X3. There's some plating wear forming around the valve casings, on the thumb saddle/finger ring, and on the 1st and 2nd finger buttons. Some pitting can also be found in the main tuning slide crook, and may eventually need a replacement in the far future. The previous owner did inform us that the 1st piston and the leadpipe were both replaced several years ago before arriving here in our shop. 

Our professional brass technician cleaned (ultrasonic), scrubbed, lubed, polished, and play-tested this horn while it was in our shop. They also smoothed out some dents in the bell throat, bell crook, and 3rd valve slide crook. No other work was required to get this horn in to great playing condition.
