We are so excited to have a classic Martin Committee III on our shelves! This Martin Committee III alto plays just as beautifully as you'd expect from any other Committee horns. This Alto is 64 years old and is in great shape. 80% of the original lacquer is still intact but has some ware and tear on the neck and body. The serial number on the neck matches the body.
Our professional saxophone technician only needed to do minor work to this horn. All the pads have been adjusted and the mechanisms oiled, two pads were changed and the neck cork was replaced. This saxophone is ready to go!
This Committee III has a nice warm sound. It is a responsive horn, especially in the lower register. The Martin has okay ergonomics; the table keys are an older style compared to contemporary saxophones so it may take some time to get used too. This would be a great horn for jazz or anyone looking for a classic sound. Check out Art Pepper meets the Rhythm Section, to hear a Martin Committee III in action. This horn has still has a LOT of life in it.
