The Wurlitzer Company started in 1853 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as an importer of stringed, woodwind, and brass instruments. They later moved towards manufacturing alongside other main brands such as C.G. Conn, King, etc. This is one of those instruments and while we are not sure of the original manufacturer, Wurlitzer was known for only working with high quality partners. There are not many instruments from this time in as good of condition as this one; the valves move very nicely, it sounds great, and it looks amazing.
Our professional brass technician disassembled and cleaned this instrument in our ultrasonic tank and removed several dents in the instrument. After lubricating, reassembling, and hand-polishing this instrument, it was play-tested for quality assurance, and was found to be in great playing condition.
Cosmetically, this horn is in great shape. The engraving and plating throughout most of the horn are in great shape, but there are some spots of wear along the third valve slide and casing, and a patch on the bottom of the leadpipe. It's seen some work and a lot of use over the years as well, but it's still a great player! Stop by Horn Stash today to check it out!
