From Conn's 1971 Brass Catalog:
"Widely used in symphony orchestras, concert and studio bands. Beautifully resonant sound. Has F rotor with E pull plus full 7th position for complete chromatic range to pedal Bb. Using the overtone series of each valve note gives the player use of two horns in one: Bb and F. The combination of extended low range and use of the F horn overtone series, as alternate positions, gives the instrument great flexibility and unlimited possibilities. The F slide can be pulled so that the instrument can be pitched in E."
This is a great instrument for a trombonist looking to add bass trombone to their repertoire without breaking the bank. It is a professional-level bass trombone with a bright, clear tone and easy response. It has a similar feel to a Conn 88H, but does lack the second rotor that modern orchestral instruments have. This instrument is in decent cosmetic condition. There is some scratching and finish wear on the handslide, along with some dents near the crook, but the slide action is superb. The bell also has some wear and scratching, but this does not effect the sound of the instrument.
This instrument was given an ultrasonic cleaning by our professional brass technician. He also removed some minor dents in the handslide and tubing of the F attachment. It was then given a thorough playtest where it was found to be in excellent playing condition.
